CNC - Grinding Operator

Job Title: CNC Grinding Operator

Job Overview:

As a CNC Grinding Operator, you will be responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) grinding machines to produce precision components according to specifications. You will set up, adjust, and monitor CNC grinding equipment, ensure quality control, and maintain machine efficiency. This role requires technical expertise in machining operations, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Machine Setup and Preparation:

    • Prepare CNC grinding machines for operation by reviewing job specifications, selecting appropriate tooling, and loading raw materials.
    • Set up machine parameters, including speed, feed rates, and depth of cut, according to workpiece requirements.
    • Install and adjust grinding wheels, fixtures, and other tooling components as needed.
  2. Operation and Monitoring:

    • Operate CNC grinding machines to perform grinding operations on various materials, such as metal, ceramics, or composites.
    • Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout the production process.
    • Adjust machine settings and make tool changes as necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  3. Quality Control:

    • Perform in-process inspection of machined parts using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
    • Verify conformance to specifications, tolerances, and quality standards, and make adjustments as required to meet customer requirements.
    • Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, such as tool wear, surface defects, or dimensional deviations, and implement corrective actions.
  4. Maintenance and Repair:

    • Conduct routine maintenance tasks on CNC grinding machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool replacement.
    • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to machine components to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
    • Follow established quality management systems and regulatory requirements, such as ISO standards, in all machining operations.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area and comply with company policies and regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • ITI - Grinding
  • Proven experience as a CNC grinding operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC grinding machines and understanding of machining principles and practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and metrology techniques for quality control.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing machining operations and inspecting machined parts.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to machine operation and industrial manufacturing processes.
